Thank you to everyone who participated and supported the Pathways to Resilient Communities event held on 7 March 2009 in Wellington. We had a fantastic day building community, discussing resiliency, and exploring different pathways, with varying perspectives, for forward direction in Aotearoa. The day was comprised of speakers who outlined certain scenarios we may be facing, and others that spoke on sustainability and how to achieve balance. Much group work was accomplished, aided by Mary-Alice Arthur, a fantastic facilitator who guided the workshop engaging collaboration, creativity and knowledge. The day culminated with the participants voluntarily holding table sessions on ideas of resiliency that they are passionate about and inviting others to join their discussions. Shortly, we will post a summarization of the ideas that were shared. The presentations are available on the "Events" page of this website. Thank you to all who participated, and for the support and koha to make the event such a success. In peace, respect and community. Here's a PDF for download on Rethinking Urban Environments. "The Public Health Advisory Committee (PHAC) commissioned five 'think-pieces' that collectively provide fresh insight into the links between urban environments and health/wellbeing in contemporary Aotearoa/New Zealand. These commentaries were intended to be provocative and encourage the reader to think 'outside the square' through building on scientific evidence."
